Sonic Crackers Oddities

Oddities
However the more I think about Crackers, the more I think it's a real game.
First off, the Music is different between Crackers and Chaotix, if it was a hoax, the music would either be the same or
badly edited.
The people who composed the music for Knuckles Chaotix
were Junko Shiratsu and Mariko Nanba. Their Biograpies (but no emails) can be found here.
If I knew their email addresses I would contact them without hesitation because if they wrote the music for Crackers
I assume they'd know about it.

As you know, I'm really into the Music side of the Sonic games, and I'm sure you can hear, both tunes have the same background "piano" riff in the background, yet the Chaotix one has a more Improvisational layer on top, which suggests it was redone. Also the Drum Beat on the Chaotix one is lighter, stuff was taken away in Chaotix, if Crackers is fake, then stuff would more likely have been taken away in Crackers to make it appear simpler.

The Teletext Game Review Page (teletext is a European TV text transmission system), called "Digitizer" claimed
they were shown Crackers by SEGA (and said it was rubbish!).

The final Odddity has to be the sprites. Why are they Sonic 1 sprites (look at the eyes)

Above: Top Left, Sonic 1, Bottom Left, Sonic 2. 2 Right hand side pics are Sonic Crackers.

As this was being made in 1994, and Sonic 3 was
released in 1994, Chaotix/Crackers may have been made by a different team, like with Sonic CD having Sonic 1 sprites, rather than Sonic 2 ones.
Or simply it's an engine test and didn't care about the sprites much.

Another Thing about Chaotix, is the "Missing Character", in the stage select menu it appears as:
**********

Well we all know that Mighty the Armadillo is a simple rework of Sonic The Hedgehog, so maybe this missing Character is Tails?

In game, the character appears as a tilted, messed up version of Knukles.

Finally is the Carnival Zone. Surprisingly I beleive I've found the Chaotix Equivalent.

Though why are they so different?
Probably because the levels were redone to make full use of the larger colour palette.

Well thats about it for Crackers. Surprising there isn't that much exciting stuff in the Rom, except a few unused sprites.
Intrestingly the Mighty Sprites match the Sonic Sprites in Crackers perfectly.
